Foster Parent & Step-Parent Adoptions

Adoption can be a complicated process, including the challenges facing adoptive foster parents and step-parents. At Grady, Hayes & Neary, our adoption attorneys each have decades of experience helping families throughout southeastern Wisconsin navigate this process.

Foster Parent Adoption

Foster parents are entitled to notice if a change of placement of their foster child is planned and have a right to be heard in court. Whether your voice is heard via a statement to the court or by participating in an evidentiary hearing is dependent upon how long the foster child has been placed in your care. Time is of the essence upon receipt of a notice of change of placement. Contact our adoptions attorneys. We can help.

Step-Parent Adoption

In order to adopt a stepchild, the non-spouse parent must give up his or her parental rights. This may be done on a voluntary basis or possibly on an involuntary basis. Our attorneys are experienced in both scenarios.
